THE SERVICE

What's involved in a vinyl liner replacement?

A vinyl liner replacement gives an existing inground pool a complete fresh start. We fully remove the old liner first - no layering or patching over the top - then install a brand new liner cut to suit your pool's exact dimensions. The new liner is fitted snug to the shell, the pool is refilled, and the filtration and equipment are recommissioned.

This isn't a major renovation. For most pools, the entire on-site changeover from drain to refill takes about two days, and you're back swimming within the week. With proper water chemistry, a new liner will easily last 20+ years and is backed by a 12-year warranty.

If your pool is showing signs of liner failure - a hole, persistent water loss, heavy staining, faded colour, or the liner pulling away from the wall track - a replacement is almost always faster, cleaner, and more cost-effective than a full pool renovation. We replace liners in pools we originally built and in pools built by others, right across metro Adelaide and regional South Australia.
SIGNS YOUR LINER NEEDS REPLACING

When to consider a liner replacement

A few of the common signs that your existing vinyl liner has reached the end of its life.
  • Visible holes, tears, or splits in the liner
  • Persistent or unexplained water loss
  • Faded, bleached, or discoloured surface
  • Liner pulling away from the wall track or coping
  • Wrinkles or stretching that won't smooth out
  • Brittle, stiff, or cracking vinyl underfoot
  • Heavy staining that won't clean off
  • Old patch jobs that keep failing
  • Liner is 15 to 20 years old or more
  • You want to change the colour or finish of the pool

HOW IT WORKS

How we replace your liner

From the first site visit to your pool being refilled and ready to swim, here's the process.
  1. Site visit and measure-up

We come out to your pool, assess the shell and existing liner, take precise measurements, and discuss your finish options. From here we can give you a fixed quote with no surprises.

  2. Custom liner manufacture

Your new vinyl liner is made to order to suit the exact dimensions, steps, swimouts, and corner radii of your existing pool.

  3. Drain and remove the old liner

We drain the pool and fully remove the old liner - no layering. Where needed, we repair any damaged areas of the underlying shell before the new liner goes in.

  4. New liner installation

The new liner is positioned, locked into the wall track, and pulled tight using vacuum to remove any air or wrinkles. Skimmers, returns, lights, and step fittings are sealed to suit.

  5. Refill, commission, and handover

We start the refill, balance the water, recommission the filtration and any automation, and walk you through care and maintenance for the new liner.

BIGGER RENOVATIONS

Doing more than just the liner?

A new liner is the easiest way to refresh a tired pool, but it's not always the only thing worth updating. If your filtration, plumbing, or pool equipment is nearing the end of its life, or you're thinking about switching to a Mineral or Naked Low TDS system, adding smart automation, or updating the coping and surrounds, it's worth doing it all in the one visit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED

Liner replacement FAQ

What is a vinyl liner replacement?
A vinyl liner replacement is the process of removing your pool's existing vinyl liner and installing a brand new one cut to fit your pool's exact dimensions. It refreshes the pool surface, the waterline, and the look of the pool without rebuilding the shell itself.
Do you replace liners in old pools?
Yes. If your existing liner is leaking, has a hole, or has simply reached the end of its life, we can fit a brand new vinyl liner to your existing pool. This includes pools we originally built and pools built by other companies.
How long does a liner replacement take?
For most pools the on-site work - draining, removing the old liner, fitting the new one, and starting the refill - takes about two days. Your pool is generally back in use within the week, depending on size and water delivery.
What is the rough price for a liner replacement?
There are a few variables, including the size of the pool, the condition of the underlying shell, and any extras like skimmer or fitting upgrades. As a rough starting point, replacements for a small 6m x 3m pool typically start from around $10,000. We'll quote your specific job after a site visit.
How long will my new liner last?
With proper water chemistry and maintenance a new vinyl liner can comfortably last 20+ years. Every new liner is backed by a 12-year warranty.
Will the old liner be left in place?
No. The old liner is fully removed before the new one goes in. This lets us inspect the underlying shell, address anything that needs attention, and fit the new liner cleanly against the wall and floor.
Can I change the colour or pattern of my pool?
Yes. A liner replacement is the ideal time to change the look of your pool. There's a range of plain, marbled, and patterned vinyl finishes available, from light blues and aquas through to darker, more contemporary colours.
What if my liner has a hole or is leaking right now?
A new liner is often the cleanest fix for a pool that's leaking or losing water. Patching can buy time, but a full replacement gives you a complete reset and a fresh warranty.
Do you replace liners outside metropolitan Adelaide?
Yes. We regularly travel to regional South Australia for both new builds and liner replacements. Get in touch with your location and we can confirm.

We would like to thank you and your great team for doing a fantastic job on our new pool. We had a hassle-free pool in 5 days from start to finish. If we had known it was going to be this simple we would have done it years ago.
